DRUMMERS 

They say your band is only as good as the drummer. 

But you can easily replace a drummer with a decent drum machine? Its a last resort but it could be the difference between gigging or doing nothing at all. 

The trouble with a lot of ego-head drummers is that they're not song writers and don't give a toss about your beautifully crafted music. 

Rock drummers are the worst because they're only in it for the money and annoyingly join like twenty cover bands, so will never learn those all important nuances that make good original songs sound amazing. 

Then they'll rock up to a band practice (usually half an hour late, sometimes three hours) invariably drunk and act like they have your music by the balls, and that a band cant possibly function without them. 

They also compromise a groups unity and butcher any potential the music might have, with their half-assed attitude. 

For these reasons, plenty of original bands just use backing tracks and get far more gigs because they're not held to ransom by the whims of a control freak drummer. 

It takes a special rare talent to eat humble pie in a band and just serve the song. And ultimately its all about the music.
